Painless, Effective Toenail Fungus Treatment

Toenail fungus, or onychomycosis, is more than just a cosmetic issue—it’s a persistent condition that can pose serious health risks, especially for individuals with diabetes or weakened immune systems. If left untreated, fungal infections can lead to painful skin conditions, ulcers, or secondary infections. At Elite Foot Care, we offer a multi-faceted approach to treating nail fungus, combining advanced ToeFX ClearToe Light Therapy with regular nail care and, when appropriate, prescription antifungal support.

We Combine

Our strategy is designed to target the infection from every angle, offering clients the best possible chance at healthier nails and long-term results.

Regular Nail Thinning and Debridement

Our skilled foot care nurses carefully reduce the infected nail using specialized podiatry tools. This not only improves the nail’s appearance but also enhances the effectiveness of light or topical treatments.

ToeFX ClearToe Light Therapy

A cornerstone of our approach, this innovative photodynamic treatment is Health Canada–approved, non-invasive, and safe. The light penetrates the nail to disrupt fungal cells without causing any pain or discomfort.

Prescription Support

In some cases, we may recommend topical or oral antifungal medications like Jublia or Terbinafine. While we do not prescribe directly, our team will provide tailored recommendations that you can bring to your family physician or prescriber for follow-up care.

How ToeFX Works?

ToeFX ClearToe Light Therapy uses photodynamic technology to directly target the fungal infection beneath the nail. The light energy penetrates the nail plate, impairing the growth of fungal cells and promoting healthier nail regrowth over time. Treatment sessions are brief—just 30 minutes every two weeks—and most clients complete the initial series within six months. To reduce the risk of recurrence, we recommend maintenance sessions every 6 to 8 weeks following the primary treatment phase.

No, we do not soak feet prior to treatment. Due to the prevalence of foot and nail fungus and infection control protocols, soaking feet is contraindicated. Soaking of feet can cause nails to split, crack, or bleed when trimmed and can introduce infection to any immunocompromised clients. We do not soak feet to maintain the integrity of the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
